Tufahije, traditional Bosnian delicacy originated in Persia. In Bosnia and Herzegovina it is more likely it came from Ottomans. Tufahije means sweet dish made of cooked apples and filled with fine cream of ground walnuts or almonds, cream and sugar, decorated with cream-foam and cherry on the top.
Preparation
Peel the apples, remove pits and cook in sweet water (1000 g sugar with 500 ml of water) with the addition of lemon.
To make the filling beat butter, add the ground almonds or walnuts, a bit of ground coffee and scrambled egg.
Stuff apples. Cover them with sugar syrup in which the apples are cooked. Chill in the refrigerator and garnish with whipped cream with the cherry on top.
