People from Sarajevo and tourists from around the world gathered today at the At Mejdan Park, where the first festival of ćevapi in BiH, "Sarajevo Cevap Fest 2017", was held. Visitors of the festival had the opportunity to eat ćevapi from four of the most famous ćevabžinice of Sarajevo.

Considering that the Sarajevo ćevap is known as the best  in the world, the owner of the ćevabžinica "Zmaj", Safet Aljovic said that "those who say they have a secret recipe for a good ćevap are lying".

"There is no recipe. There is only good meat and our Bosnian charcoal. The tree is very important. It gives aroma to the meat "explained Aljovic.

Several cultural and artistic acts were performed at "Sarajevo Cevap Fest 2017"-  sevdalinke, tasting of products and grilling, and numerous competitions.

The importance of branding

Amar Nurkovic, a member of the Organizing Committee of the Sarajevo Ćevap Fest, said in a statement to the media that everyone is saying that their ćevap is the best, "but we say that ours are the best and that will be decided today by tourists and citizens who came to the festival and who will consume ".

He pointed out that this is the first step in protecting Sarajevo ćevapi, as a Bosnian product and brand, and the goal is to inspire those who deal with these issues to do their job well and to help realize the initiatives and activities.

Nurkovic pointed out the importance of branding Sarajevo ćevapi, in general, the importance of the gastronomic festival, and stated that all cities in the world have their own gastronomic festivals, such as Munich's Sausage Festival, Belgrade, Zagreb...

"Although Sarajevo did not have these festivals, it is still famous for its ćevapi all over the world," he said, adding that such festivals will give even more importance to Sarajevo and BiH as an attractive tourist destination rich in natural, cultural and historical sights, but also as a famous gastronomic destination.
