BiH visited by over 128,000 tourists in January and February

In the period January-February 2018, 128,151 tourist visits to Bosnia and Herzegovina were recorded, which is 15,1 percent more than in the same period in 2017, as well as 295,898 overnight stays, up by 20.1 percent in comparison with the same period in 2017.

The number of domestic tourists’ overnight says is 18.8 percent higher, while the number of foreign tourist nights is 20.9 percent higher than in the same period in 2017.

In the total number of nights spent, the domestic tourists participated with 35.6 percent, while foreign tourists made 64.4 percent of overnight stays, the BiH Statistics Agency said.

In the overall number of overnight stays recorded, the largest percentage make tourists from Croatia (30.2 percent), followed by Serbia (19.2 percent), Slovenia (6.8 percent), Turkey (6.0 percent), Montenegro (3.4 percent), Italy (3.1 percent), Germany (3.0 percent) and Austria (2.3 percent), which is 74 percent total. Tourists from other countries made 26 percent of overnight stays.

As for the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH, tourists from Kuwait were on the first place, with an average stay of 3.9 nights, followed by Qatar with 3.7 nights, United Arab Emirates and Malta with 3.2 nights each, Romania with 3.1 nights and Iceland and Bahrain with 3.0 nights each. According to the type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was recorded within Hotels and Similar Accommodation with the participation of 91.7 percent.
