Sarajevo International Airport celebrates millionth passenger milestone in 2018

The Sarajevo International Airport today broke a new record by servicing one million passengers in a calendar year.
The millionth passenger was Aida Birno from Sarajevo who was traveling to Istanbul and who said that this was the first prize of this kind that she has won.
"Up until today, I used to see or hear about situations like this from the media, and the feeling is surreal, but wonderful," said Birno.
The millionth passenger was awarded with a Duty Free Shop voucher at the Sarajevo International Airport and a Sarajevo-Istanbul return flight ticket.
Director of International Airport Sarajevo Armin Kajmaković said that for the third year in a row, the airport is breaking records in terms of the number of passengers serviced, and that today's number represents an increase of nine percent compared to the same period of 2017.
“I would like to thank the entire staff of the Sarajevo International Airport that has successfully answered all the challenges brought by accelerated growth in number of passengers and flights, as well as to all our partners and all accompanying services,” said Kajmaković.
He stressed that such growth could not be possible without the capacities increase and that the works on the expansion of the building of the terminal B of the Sarajevo Airport are under way.
