Ambassador of the Embassy of Germany to BiH Christiane Hohmann opened the event "Germany in BiH" in Sarajevo today, stressing this is a magnificent opportunity to show how present Germany is in our country, not only through politics and people but also through companies presented at this event.
"Germany does not only create workplaces and cares about enabling people in BiH a better life but it is present with investments," said the German Ambassador.
By that, she added, she is talking about institutions, foundations and NGOs such as Goethe Institute and German Organization for Technical Cooperation (GIZ).
"We want to show the variety of German engagement in BiH," she said.
Deputy Director of the Representation of German Economy in BiH Martin Gaber reminded that German economy in BiH is represented with around 200 German companies.
"German companies are not only some of the most important investors with bilateral trade volume of around 1.7 billion euros but Germany is also the biggest trade partner of BiH," he emphasized.
He emphasized that companies that are taking part in today's event are good examples for "extraordinary German investments in BiH".
"Companies such as Veritas Automotive, Mann+Hummel and Cement Factory Kakanj employ around 1000 workers," said Gaber, adding that the common aim is to create conditions that will make BiH an attractive country, especially for young and creative people.
Director of Goethe Institute in Sarajevo Charlotte Hermelink emphasized importance of culture, saying that it gives coherence to societies and countries and connects them.
Representation of the German Economy in BiH organized the event, with support of the German Embassy, in Mikser House, where German institutions, organizations and companies will present their engagement in BiH to the wider audience.
Some of the presenters are German companies that operate in BiH, as well as high-quality German brands.
