Sarajevo Haggadah has gotten its place in the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a modernly renovated premises, and visitors will be able to view it twice a week.

The completion of the project "Haggadah, Closer to You" in the value of 200,000 KM, provides better conditions for preservation of Haggadah.

The level of protection of the Sarajevo Haggadah ranging from the lighting, changes in temperature and humidity, but also from fire or theft, has been raised considerably. Also, the presentation system reduces the need for frequent manual manipulation, which altogether contributes to its better protection.

At the inauguration ceremony of the Haggadah premises, Director of the National Museum of BiH, Mirsad Sijarić, French Ambassador to BiH Guillaume Rousson, BiH Minister of Civil Affairs Adil Osmanović, UNESCO Regional Bureau head Ana Luiza Thompson-Flores and the representatives of the Jewish Community once again reminded of the significance of Haggadah which, thanks to the devoted and loyal citizens of BiH, survived two wars.

With the desire to enable more citizens of BiH as well as tourists to have access to the Haggadah, which was available to the public for only four hours in 20 years, the Embassy of France to BiH, UNESCO and the National Museum of BiH, with the support of the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs, decided to do more regarding the supervision and preservation of that document.

“When you are lucky to have in your possession such an important and symbolic work, then you really should make it available to everyone, make it accessible so that everyone could see it and admire it,” Ambassador Rousson said.
