The 25th anniversary of putting into operation the Salvation Tunnel

The Sarajevo Salvation Tunnel was put into operation on 31 July 1993 and it was the most important strategic project for the defense of the City of Sarajevo and the country.
On the occasion of marking the 25th anniversary of the excavation and putting into operation of the Tunnel, the Memorial Fund and the D-B Memorial Complex organized marking of the anniversary today with laying of flowers in the memorial hall in front of the D-B Memorial Complex and presented an audio guide to the Memorial Complex in the German language.
Also, another part of the exhibition "They are the Tunnel"also opened, dedicated to its builders, tunnel diggers, and there were so many of them.
They worked 24 hours-a-day, hungry, thirsty, without adequate clothing and shoes, without adequate working material, but they worked because the tunnel was a chance to connect Dobrinja and Butmir and was the only way out of a difficult, war situation.
Over the first six months of this year, more than 120,000 people visited the Salvation Tunnel.
