The Buybook publishing house has organized the first Bookstan, the International Literature Festival, to mark their 20th anniversary, and since than, the Festival gathers the most important domestic, regional and world authorsevery year in Sarajevo.
The curator of the first edition of the festival was Bosnian and international writer Alexander Hemon, who chose the motto "No East, No West" as the central theme of the Festival. Thanks to Hemon and the collaboration with Buybook, prestigious authors, agents, critics and editors arrived in Sarajevo.
First edition of Bookstan was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sport KS, Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, Sarajevo Publishing Foundation, BiH Open Society Fund, Goethe-Institut, Turkish Cultural Center Sarajevo, Embassy of the Republic of Turkey, Canada Embassy, Igepa, Dobra knjiga and other partners.
