The alga has broken down the organic substance, created a healthy substrate and that's it – says Dragan Sulovic, an environmental activist and mechanical engineer, currently employed at the Federal Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Protection.

Šulović explains that brown algae or Norwegian Kelp (Ascophyllum nodosum) disintegrates the organic substance, so the bacteria have nothing to live on, and there is therefore no stench, mosquitoes, rodents or other pests.

- These algae are applicable in garbage dumps, but also in agriculture, where they are far more efficient than existing chemicals, and they do not harm, do not poison, pollute or kill. The algae, therefore, does not kill mosquitoes, but removes the cause of their arrival. In agriculture, algae allows you to heal the soil, to get a healthy plant without chemical preparations for disinfection, disinfection and deratisation, which is very important because killing pests also kills people. If you use them in closed systems, you can produce electricity from the process of dissolution under the influence of algae - explained Šulović.

He argues that brown algae is very effective for purifying water. When the water is cleaned with an aerobic system, that is, injection of oxygen or air, what’s left is sludge, trash, fat - everything that is separated and what is not a place in the water, and then it is necessary to take care of that dirt.

- At the same time, the anaerobic method, without the addition of air, which we have in the lakes, in the sewers, especially in the corners where pockets are formed, is in the ponds, and it goes by itself, it is very slow and the alga is very good with dissolution and it quite quickly cleans both wastewater and septic tanks. When we were in Odzak after the May floods in the oil and grease purification campaign, one host, with whom we sewed a septic tank and drain, was so suprised and he repeated that the God himself sent us. In Maglaj we sprinkled old wet things out of the cellar that were dipped in dirty water and terribly stench, and wet walls in several flooded houses, and smell quickly disappeared, says Šulović.

Dario Lazic from Doboj, a co-owner of an international company engaged in breeding, processing and sale of brown algae preparations, explains that these algae are used in nutrition, medicine, agriculture, pharmacy, oil and other heavy metals and grease in soil, for purification Water and landslide rehabilitation.

- We cultivate algae in two locations, in Scotland and Norway, and in both places there is very strict control of these countries. Our parcels are in areas of the sea which are ecological zones, at least ten meters deep and they prohibit the fishing and traffic of ships. The processing takes place in Germany, in three factories, each of which carries out part of the technological processing process. The half-product goes to Slovenia, where the final stage of processing is in a way to keep DNA and all the properties of the plant. Preparations for human use are in granules, and for agriculture mainly in liquid form. However, we will soon distribute creams and other products - says Lazic.

The license for the marketing of algae products from his company was obtained from the Institute of Public Health of Republika Srpska.

PERMITTED IN THE EU, IN BIH ...

"The problem is that we are pioneers in this industry, so it is difficult to organize valid checks," Lazić said.

Šefket Hrustanović also uses algae in his orchard in Breza. He has 10,500 trees of apples, pears and plums, and algae, he says, began to be used a few years ago at the recommendation of a friend.

- Initially, I did not believe in the properties he was talking to me, but I consulted with inspectors and they told me it was expensive, but it was very effective and I use it freely as much as I can. Now I use algae in combination with manure as this is my organic farming. With the algae spraying the crochet, and I quickly saw the differences. The fruit is healthier and higher than in the years before the use of algae, the leaf is nicer, shining and now I believe it is because of this mixture. The algae are indeed four to five times more expensive than other resources, but the effect is unbelievable - says Hrustanovic.

At the Federal Administration for Inspection, they say that no one has authorized the use of algal preparations in FBiH for the time being, and that the authorization for traffic from the RS in the Federation is not enough.

- The approval should be given by the Ministries of Agriculture and Health or the State Drugs Agency, but this has not been done so far. Everyone who uses algae products in agriculture should have been approved by a ministry. Our inspectors do not have any recommendations on what to do if they see these products are used or the farmer says they are using them - says Director of the Board, Ibrahim Tirak.

In Organic Control, the first bh. organization that is accepted in Brussels as a certification for organic production and certification of agricultural production for export to the EU, say that the use of algae in agriculture is allowed.

According to OK standards and EU regulations, marine algae preparations are allowed to be used in organic production - says Bernis Klepo of this organization.

Šulović says that there are plenty of examples of the use of brown algae products throughout the world. In the Czech Republic, in Prague, for example, garbage dumps are sprayed with brine and stink is three to four times smaller compared to landfills not treated with these solutions; In Romania, garbage is also sprayed with algae and  it  is not stinking, and it's easier to work; The tunnel on the Maribor-Ljubljana highway cleans the tank with water into which the algae solution is placed; In the Botzvana Slaughterhouse uses algae and produces electricity, and now the same solution is being prepared in England; In Hungary the streets are cleaned with algae solutions that removes all residues of fats and fuels ...

Or, for example, fire fighting tests with water in which the algae has been dissolved have shown that water extinguishes the fire, and the algae dissolves everything that could recline.

Lazić noted that there are numerous studies that prove that landslides can be successfully remedied by the algae, because it mixed with water increases volume and creates a material as strong as concrete, and much more flexible.

CLEANING HARD METALS

In BiH, according to Dragan Sulovic, for the time being there are initiatives to use algae in Bihac in one slaughterhouse that would simultaneously produce electricity, then in Zenica in Mittal, and also to clean the land around Mittal.
