Like many of the cuisine around the world, this cuisine also has the following Bosnian "glossary".

These are some of the terms used:

Jemek - single dish, but also a whole meal

Mezetluk - an introduction to the meal, an appetizer (cheeses, dried meats, pickleds, cold roast, jalan-dolma)

Ikindijuša - brunch

Akšamluk – a get-together with food and drink (Sarajevan Muhammad Nerkesi noted in the 16th century that the only commandment of aksamluk is to drink, but not to get drunk)

Sijelo- a get-together after dinner (serving light meals - baked potatoes cut in half, cream, jam, cake, chestnuts)

Teferič- time spent celebrating, eating, and in joy
