Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka and a donor of funds for the reconstruction of the Trebević Cable Car, Edmond Offermann today unveiled a memorial plaque in honor of Ramo Biber at the cable car arrival station on Mt Trebević.
Members of the Biber family attended today's ceremony.
Ramo Biber was a worker of the Public Transportation Company GRAS and was shot multiple times and killed at his workplace on 1 March 1992, at the beginning of the aggressor’s attack on the city while he was safeguarding the arrival station and Trebević Cable Car complex.
"Biber was a hero who defended the symbol of Sarajevo and I sincerely hope that future generations will value people like him. He was the guardian of our symbol, and we will cherish his name," said at the ceremony of unveiling of a memorial plaque, which stands as a memory of the guard who defended the symbol of the City of Sarajevo,” said Mayor Skaka.
