The company ‘Bosnaplod’ has made a big step forward in the organic production segment, which, according to experts, is one of the biggest development potentials of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The company stated that in 2017, it adjusted a part of the production to the requirements of organic standards in accordance with the certificate awarded by Ecocert.

Thus, they certified the areas where forest fruits are collected. On their own plantations totaling in five hectares, the company have planted organic strawberry. The company also set up a purchase network for forest fruits to ensure organic produce for the production of juices and jams.

Agricultural Development Manager in ZERAA Agriculture Investment & Management Eldina Muftić said that organic production is a great opportunity for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but in order for the companies to impose themselves on the foreign markets it is necessary to raise the level of competitiveness of organic production in BiH and to work more intensively on development of this sector which, among other things, can contribute to the revitalization of rural areas.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina has a major task to provide farmers with the opportunity to use EU funds, which provide opportunity to make significant steps towards the application of new technologies, knowledge and increase of fruit production,” emphasized Muftić.

‘Bosnaplod’ will present its organic products at the world's leading organic food fair BioFach 2018 in Nuremberg, which will gather 2,950 exhibitors and more than 50,000 visitors this year.
