Gazi Husrev-bey's Madrasah in Sarajevo celebrated its 481st anniversary of continuous educational work.
At the solemn academy held on the occasion of the anniversary, the Madrasah awarded special acknowledgments for the affirmation of this educational institution to its alumni Mehmedalija Hadžić, former professor of the Gazi Husrev-bey’s Madrasah, and Safet Softić, Deputy Chairman of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Madrasah was founded in 1537 by Gazi Husrev-bey, the then Ottoman governor of Bosnia.
It is the only school in Bosnia and Herzegovina that has been continuously working for over 470 years, and such schools are rare in the world as well. There are two buildings, a male and female medrese with the necessary classrooms and cabinets, as well as the space for students and students.
Her founder is the son of the Bosnian nobleman Ferhat-beg.
