Mayor Skaka marks the start of 11th Sarajevo half-marathon

Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka officially marked the start of 11th Sarajevo half-marathon in front of the BBI center this morning by participating in the race.
“I am happy that number of participants is growing by the year: apart from athletes, more citizens are participating in this event. This event promotes healthy lifestyle and the City of Sarajevo as an important sport, economic and tourist center,” said Mayor Skaka, stressing that the City of Sarajevo co-finances this mass sports event as a partner of the Association "Marathon" and it will continue doing so in the future.
This-year’s half-marathon gathered around 3 000 participants from 30 countries.
Like every year this is a charity event and this year it is expected to raise more than 20 000 KM, which will be donated to associations dealing with children without parental care, people with dementia and ecological projects, Sarajevo City Administration stated.
