Number of tourists in Sarajevo increased by 38.3 percent during January

Director of the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Community Nermin Muzur told FENA that number of tourists increased by 38.3 percent in January and number of overnight stays by 97 percent, compared to the same month last year.
Muzur finds this statistic data is a success of the Tourist Community, which had the aim to increase the number of tourists in Sarajevo for the celebration of New Year’s Eve, which contributed to the overall result.
“That is also a result of our promotion of Sarajevo as a tourist destination in the region and at international fairs,” he explained.
After promotion in Madrid and Istanbul, Muzur added, they plan to present tourist capacity of Sarajevo at tourist events and fairs in Belgrade, Berlin, Moscow, Dubai and China.
Muzur also emphasized they have united tourist communities of cantons in FBiH for the fair at the end of February in Belgrade and they will present the offer together with Tuzla, Una-Sana, Central Bosnia and Herzegovina-Neretva cantons.
According to the Institute of Statistics of Sarajevo Canton, 28.117 stayed in Sarajevo in December 2017.
