Competition was organized by the Embassy of Italy to BiH, aware of importance of photography and art as an instrument of spreading values of respect and tolerance.
Intention behind the initiative was to give young people an opportunity to express their own creativity by presenting wealth, potential, advantages and flaws of a country that is going through a sensitive stage of the EU accession process to their peers, parents, but also Italy and the European Union.
Participants were divided into age categories 6-12, 13-18 and 19-25, whereas the fourth category included one or group of grades of the same school.
Ambassador of Italy to BiH Nicola Minasi said this was a way to encourage young people to contribute to the EU accession process of BiH, because they are the ones who can create the future and be protagonists in the EU.
Head of Department for Social Development, Civil Society and Mutual Cooperation at the EU Delegation to BiH Gianluca Wannini noted they received great number of photographs that illustrate beauties of BiH.
Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH Bruce Berton noted this was an opportunity for young people to show how they see BiH, but also to say how they feel about values such as respect and tolerance.
Representative of UNICEF Office in BiH Geeta Narayan believes this was an opportunity for young people to express their views, but also show their view of reality.
"Sometimes we see youth as a problem or someone who is not doing enough, but when we look at the quality of these photos we see their creativity," she emphasized.
